This notice explains what personal data is collected when you use this site (jclmz.com) and how it is handled. The site is operated by jclmz (“I”, “me”) as an individual based in Cambridge, United Kingdom. I am the data controller for the personal data described below.
What I collect
- Contact form submissions. The name, email address, optional subject, and message you choose to send via the contact form.
- Analytics (only if you accept cookies). Aggregated usage information such as pages viewed, device and browser type, and rough geographic location, collected via Google Analytics 4 (with IP anonymisation) and Mixpanel.
- Consent preference. Your accept/reject choice is stored locally in your browser (
localStorage, keyjclmz.consent.v1) so the site remembers it. Nothing is sent to me as a result.
Why
- To reply to messages you send me (legitimate interest).
- To understand how the site is used (only with your consent under UK GDPR and PECR).
Who else processes it
- Microsoft Azure Communication Services — delivers contact-form emails on my behalf. Data may be processed in the United Kingdom and Microsoft’s global infrastructure.
- Vercel Inc. — hosts the site and processes request metadata (including IP addresses) to serve pages.
- Google (Google Analytics) and Mixpanel Inc. — only if you have accepted analytics cookies. Data may be transferred to the United States; these providers self-certify under the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or rely on Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long
Contact-form messages are kept for as long as is reasonably needed to respond to and follow up on your enquiry, and then deleted. Analytics data is retained according to the provider’s defaults (Google Analytics: 14 months; Mixpanel: per their retention policy).
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data I hold about you;
- have it corrected if it is wrong;
- have it erased;
- restrict or object to processing;
- portability of data you have provided;
- withdraw your consent to analytics at any time — clear the
jclmz.consent.v1entry from your browser’s site storage and the banner will reappear.
To exercise any of these rights, send a message via the contact form. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
